Si è appena tenuta l’edizione 2024 dei People’s Choice Awards, rinomata cerimonia di premiazione i cui vincitori – a differenza di quanto accade nei classici Festival televisivi o cinematografici – sono completamente votati dal pubblico e non da una giuria di “esperti”, giornalisti o addetti ai lavori. L’evento è stato condotto da Simu Liu, star del MCU nei panni di Shang-Chi e del recente Barbie nel ruolo di uno dei tanti Ken, e ha visto trionfare proprio il film di Greta Gerwig come Lungometraggio dell’anno: in questo caso, dunque, la “sfida” con Oppenheimer è stata vinta dalla celebre bambola. L’opera di Christopher Nolan ha comunque vinto nella categoria Film Drammatici, mentre The Hunger Games: La ballata dell’usignolo e del serpente in quella Action. Barbie si è anche portato a casa il premio nella sezione Comedy, oltre ai riconoscimenti come Miglior attore e Miglior attrice ai protagonisti Ryan Gosling e Margot Robbie, e alla Miglior performance dell’anno ad America Ferrera.  

Per quanto riguarda le serie tv, il premio al Miglior show del 2024 è andato a Grey’s Anatomy, mentre Only Murders in the Building e The Last of Us hanno trionfato, rispettivamente, nelle categorie Comedy e Drama. Anche il MCU si è portato a casa un riconoscimento: Loki ha infatti vinto nella sezione Miglior serie sci-fi/fantasy. Tra gli altri premiati troviamo anche Pedro Pascal e Selena Gomez, che si sono aggiudicati le vittorie come Migliori attori dell’anno.
