Ha avuto luogo ieri a Santa Monica la 28esima edizione degli independent Spirit Awards, i premi del cinema indipendente americano, che come da tradizione vengono consegnati il giorno prima della notte degli Oscar. Grande vincitore della serata è stato il film Il lato positivo, che si è accaparrato 4 dei riconoscimenti più importanti: Miglior Film, Miglior Regia, Miglior sceneggiatura (David O’Russell) e Miglior Attrice Jennifer Lawrence. Il Miglior interprete maschile è stato invece John Hawkes per The Sessions, film che ha regalato anche la statuetta per la Migliore attrice non protagonista a Helen Hunt. Il premio per la migliore opera prima è andato a  Stephen Chbosky per Noi Siamo Infinito.
