La prima tappa ufficiale verso i premi Oscar del 2024 è stata raggiunta: sono stati infatti svelati tutti i film che concorreranno alla 96^ edizione degli Academy Awards, che si terrà il prossimo 10 marzo 2024 nella consueta cornice del Dolby Theatre di Hollywood, Los Angeles. Ai nastri di partenza ci sono tutti i favoriti: Oppenheimer, Poor Things, Barbie, Killers of the Flower Moon, ma non sono mancate le sorprese nelle candidature. Al momento, ricordiamo, sono già stati annunciati gli Oscar onorari all’attrice Angela Bassett, al regista e attore Mel Brooks e alla montatrice Carol Littleton.
Sarà Christopher Nolan a presentarsi come grande favorito alla principale notte dei premi del cinema: Oppenheimer è il film che ha raccolto più candidature (13), davanti a Poor Things di Yorgos Lanthimos (11) e Killers of the Flower Moon di Martin Scorsese (10). A uscirne di nuovo ridimensionato è Barbie, il film fenomeno del 2023: 8 nomination (una in più di Maestro), ma fa particolarmente rumore la mancanza di Greta Gerwig tra le registe e di Margot Robbie tra le papabili migliori attrici; può comunque contare su due nomination nella categoria Miglior Canzone e su Ryan Gosling tra i Non protagonisti.
Tra le sorprese dell’anno vanno inserite The Zone of Interest e Anatomy of a Fall, entrambi hanno raccolto 5 nomination (come The Holdovers) e sono candidati sia come Miglior Film che come Miglior Regia. Il film di Justine Triet non è però nella categoria Miglior Film Straniero (la Francia non lo ha scelto come candidato), dove invece ha trovato spazio Io capitano di Matteo Garrone! L’Italia torna quindi ad avere un film candidato due anni dopo È stata la mano di dio di Paolo Sorrentino, ma quest’anno sarà durissima riuscire a portare in patria una statuetta.
